Assignors for  GVSA clubs, and the referees they assign, must be members in good standing of GVSOA and be certified by USSF for the current calendar year.
Assignors must assign referees currently certified with USSF and listed on the MI USSF certified referee list. (Referees currently certified with USSF in other states must obtain the approval of the Michigan State Referee Administrator, and then be added to the MI USSF list.)

            Assignors
access the MI USSF referee list by: logging into their Game Officials account, and accessing the #1308 ASSIGNMENT SYSTEM identity; click on the "OFFICIALS" link on the left;
then on "CLICK TO SHOW ADDITIONAL OPTIONS"; and, then click on "CUSTOM OFFICIAL LISTS FOR ASSIGNORS".
The resulting page is a list of all the Michigan referees. Click on the box of each referee you want to assign games to, and save. The resulting page contains the Michigan USSF list, and the officials to be assigned by you (with boxes checked). Check/Uncheck to add/remove officials from your custom assignor list as necessary. Removing an official from your assigning list does not remove the official from the master list. A referee not in (Michigan) cannot be assigned to regular season or tournament games.
This data base is updated regularly as the certification and recertification class results are submitted by the instructors to the SRA. You may need to check the database more than once.

Certified assignors must make sure they assign in accordance with USSF and GVSA league requirements. Know what they are before you begin assigning.

Assignor Documents/Instructions for Certification & Recertification

Assignors are certified/recertified by the Michigan Referee Committee, but assigned to GVSA clubs by GVSOA (Grand Valley Soccer Officials Association).

The requirements are different for recertifying assignors than those for new assignors.  Follow the instructions for registration and payment.

If you are certifying for the first time, you have to attend the certification class and complete the on-line materials before the class.
Classes are held in January/February each year.

The on-line modules for certification can be accessed when the class is opened for registration.
  • Concussion Module
  • Heading Module
  • Game Officials Mechanics power point
  • Michigan Assignor Cerification test
  • Michigan Assignor Certification power point
  • Safe Sport certification

Assignors recertifying must complete the on-line requirements for 2018. Recertification details are accessed via 1303, Registration and Learning Identity. Some modules in this recert are common to other cerifications (instructor, assessor, referee). If you completed those modules earlier, the completion(s) satisfy the assignor requirements. Recertification is on-line only

The on-line modules for recertification can be accessed when the class is opened for registration:
  • Concussion Module
  • Heading Module
  • Michigan Assignor Recertification test
  • Michigan Assignor Recertification power point
  • Safe Sport certification

Registration information (for certification and recertification) will be posted at

GAME ASSIGNMENTS

Each club has a referee assignor to assign referees to their home games. The Michigan Referee Committee trains and certifies USSF referee assignors. GVSOA pairs the assignor to each club. In order to receive game assignments, an assignor needs to know you are a current USSF certified referee, a member of GVSOA, and you want game assignments. The Grand Valley Soccer Officials Association  has a list of the assignors and the clubs they are paired with. Go to the "Contact Us" page on this website to peruse the list.

READ THE INFORMATION ON THE "GAMES" TAB.

Go to www.michiganreferee.org, click on the "TOOLS" tab, then on the "ASSIGNORS" link. The certified assignors, their contact information, and the clubs they assign for, are listed. If you are close enough to travel to other counties, follow the same steps to find assignors there. You may work with more than one assignor. Contact the assignor(s), and let them know you are available for the game assignments. Keep your contact information in Game Officials current to permit assignors to quickly contact you about game assignments. The quickest way to NOT to receive game assignments is to: 1) not input when you ARE AVAILABLE; and 2) not honor the assignments you accept. Ask what are the assignor's requirements for turning back games, finding a substitute, and the procedure when teams fail to appear. Ask what resources are available to help you develop your referee skills and how you access those resources. Ask the assignor what procedure is followed when a complaint is made about you, or, by you.
