HOW TO OBTAIN GAME ASSIGNMENTS:
In order to be eligible for league assignments by the GVSOA assignors, a referee has to complete the following steps:
1) Be certified by USSF as a referee for the current calendar year;
2) JOIN GVSOA FOR THE CURRENT CALENDAR YEAR. The application is on the "STATEMENT" page;
3) Contact one of the assignors listed on the "CONTACT US" page, to be added to the GVSOA referee list. Names on
this referee list are offered game assignments.
4) Your GAME OFFICIALS account has a page called "AVAILABILITY". You must state when you are available (the
system assumes you are not available unless you indicate differently) and you MUST KEEP IT CURRENT.
As your availability changes, you must update your availability within GAME OFFICIALS. If you show that
you are available for an assignment, and one is offered, you are expected to accept it. Whenever possible,
assignments are offered in a group of 3. If you show available for the 3, the system will not let you accept
1 or 2 games and decline the remainder. You will need to accept all, or decline all, the assignments in that
group.
4a) If you must decline a game, the system will prompt you for an explanation when processing the decline. Your
assignor will want to know why you declined. Tell the assignor why you declined the assignment(s).
4b) Remember that you are an independent contractor, and while you do not have to accept any assignment, no
assignor is obligated to offer an assignment to you either. If you repeatedly decline assignments you show
as available for, without a good explanation, you may not be offered assignments.
4c) If you accept assignments, and fail to appear for the games without a compelling reason, you may not receive
additional assignments and you may be UN-ASSIGNED from your accepted assignments for the remainder
of the season.
5) Do your best to keep your Game Official's availability current/updated. Life does happen, and if you are prompt
to let your assignor know, we will work with you. You are a paid, professional, referee. You are not volunteering
in a league where if you fail to appear no one cares. You seek games in a competitive league, and we expect
you to be a positive contributor to the quality of play, competitiveness of the league, and to this referee association.
