Game Assignments
How To Be Come A Referee
USSF High School College Risk Management ______________________ Game Assignment Skill Enhancement Recertification ______________________ Rules Of Competition Grand Valley Soccer Association State Cup Midwest Regional League Super Y Premier National Premier League | Each club has a referee assignor to assign referees to their home games. The Michigan Referee Committee trains and certifies USSF referee assignors. In order to receive game assignments, an assignor needs to know you are a currently USSF certified referee, and you want game assigments. Each local league has a list of assignors for its member clubs. Go to www.michiganreferee.org, click on the "TOOLS" tab, then on the "ASSIGNORS" link. Choose how you want to find an assignor. The certified assignors, their contact information, and the clubs they assign for, are listed. If you are close enough to travel to other counties, follow the same steps to find assignors there. You may work with more than one assignor. Contact the assignor(s), and let them know you are available for the game assignments. Give them your contact information that will allow them to quickly contact you for game assignments. The quickest way to NOT to receive game assignments is to not honor the assignments you accept. Ask what are the assignor's requirments for turning back games, finding a substitute, and the procedure when teams fail to appear. Ask what resources are available to help you develop your referee skills and how you access those resources. Ask the assignor what procedure is followed when a complaint is made about you, or, by you. Some assignors offer game assignments via telephone to each referee. An increasingly popular game assignment program is the ARBITER system. Each assignor using ARBITER has a list of referees (referee group), their availability and ranking. After games are entered into ARBITER, the program shows the assignor the referees that are available on any game date/time. In order to be in the Arbiter program for game assignments, you have to be invited by an assignor who uses Arbiter. Ask the assignor for an invitation to join the assignor's group. When you receive the invitation follow the links, accept the invitation, update your information and indicate when you are NOT available on your arbiter calendar. You should change your availability on the Arbiter calendar every time your availability changes. A referee is able to be a member of more than one referee group (and work with more than one assignor). When you complete your information in Arbiter, call the assignor to let him/her know you are ready.(The assignor will check to make sure you are ready. The Arbiter website is www.arbitersports.com. |
